Cottage Home is in Southern Illinois about where the Crab Orchard Lake is now. The town was founded by the Thaxton and Mann and Sanders families. It was the home to Mann School, founded by Jesse Mann, according to Jerry Mullins. He continues, "It was an off-shoot of Grassy. My grandmother was born there. My Great Grandfather was the first postmaster, etc."
